Pause & Protect:
School-Based Prevention
Helping K-12 students learn how to manage emotions, make healthy choices, and stay safe.

Interested in bringing Pause & Protect to your school?
Pause & Protect is a school-based prevention education program that helps K-12 students learn how to manage emotions, make healthy choices, and stay safe.
Through developmentally appropriate interactive lessons and group activities, youth learn how to pause before reacting—and protect their mental health, their future, and their community.

Students explore topics such as:
-
Emotional regulation and coping skills
-
Conflict resolution and healthy relationships
-
Mental health and substance use awareness
-
Suicide prevention and help-seeking strategies
In addition to student programming, Pause & Protect includes training and consultation for educators, school staff, and youth-serving professionals. These sessions help build trauma-informed classrooms, improve adult confidence in responding to student mental health needs, and align school-wide practices with social-emotional learning goals.

Rooted in trauma-informed care, Pause & Protect is designed to meet students where they are—socially, emotionally, and developmentally. Whether delivered during school hours or through after-school programming, the initiative creates safe spaces where youth can build confidence, resilience, and real-life tools to thrive in and out of the classroom.
